The Redskins don’t have an immediate need at middle linebacker, but that won’t stop them from looking at one in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Washington will host USC middle linebacker Rey Maualuga Tuesday in preparation for the April 25-26 draft.

Washington holds the 13th overall pick in the first round. Maualuga has been projected as going anywhere from around the 15th pick to later in the first round.

Maualuga spearheaded USC’s defense, though his stock dropped after the season for various reasons, including that scouts felt he played better as a junior than as a senior. He’s considered an excellent leader, but is known for freelancing. He’s a fierce hitter.

Though the Redskins don’t have a pressing need in the middle, London Fletcher is nearing the end of his career.
