Prior to Saturday?s intra-state NCAA Division III football clash between Johns Hopkins and McDaniel, Blue Jays coach Jim Margraff said the records didn?t matter, that the emotion would still be there in the Centennial Conference rivalry.
Whether emotion played a role or not, Margraff?s squad proved to have more firepower, running past the Green Terror, 48-7, for a sixth straight series win.
Hopkins (5-5 overall, 3-3 conference) jumped out to a 34-0 halftime lead behind three Shane Kibbe touchdown passes. Kibbe finished the day 13 of 22 for 177 yards and three scores. Hopkins also rushed for 201 yards as a team, in stark contrast to McDaniel?s negative-35 yards rushing.
Hopkins kicker Ben Scott booted a pair of first-half field goals and is now tied for third in Division III history with 43 field goals.
McDaniel (4-6, 2-4) got on the board in the third quarter on a three-yard touchdown pass from Brad Baer to Christian Turner.
SALISBURY KEEPS REGENTS CUP:Salisbury held onto the Regents Cup for the third consecutive year with a 42-15 trouncing of Frostburg State Saturday at Johnny Unitas Stadium.

MORGAN SMACKED IN FINALE: Morgan State ended its season very much like it began.
The Bears ended on a 1-3 skid after opening on a similar slide. Saturday?s finale was ugly, with the host Bears suffering a 41-16 loss at the hands of South Carolina State. SCSU (6-4 overall, 5-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) out-gained the Bears, 419-275.
The Bears (5-6, 4-4) averaged just 2.3 yards per carry.
Bears quarterback Byron Selby was 4 for 6 for 52 yards and a touchdown, splitting time with Mario Melton, who went 6 for 14 for 146 yards and three interceptions.
