DETROIT (AP) — The Detroit Red Wings have been scheduled to start the upcoming season Oct. 12 at home against Nashville, the team that knocked them out of the playoffs.

The NHL announced schedules for every team on Thursday — if there’s no work stoppage. The league’s collective bargaining agreement expires Sept. 15.

Detroit will host each of the other Original Six teams, including Toronto in the Winter Classic on Jan. 1 at Michigan Stadium.

The Red Wings will also play Pittsburgh and Washington at home. They will host the Sidney Crosby-led Penguins on Nov. 19 and the Alex Ovechkin-led Capitals on Dec. 7.

The Red Wings are scheduled to wrap up the regular season on the road, ending April 13 at Colorado.
