Robert Morris of Great Falls (68) was medalist in U.S. Mid-Amateur qualifying Tuesday at Whiskey Creek. Others who advance are Mike Kirby of Virginia Beach (70), Josh Williamowski of Rockville (71), Scott Lamond of Chevy Chase (71), Kevin Watford of Franklin, Tenn. (71), Serge Hogg of Baltimore (71), and Ray Sheedy of Mount Airy (72).
Sheedy won a four-man playoff for the final slot, hitting driver, 7-iron to the 501-yard 18th hole and getting down in two from the fringe for a birdie.
The U.S. Mid-Amateur will be played at the Atlantic Golf Club on Long Island, N.Y., Sept. 25-30.
