Many have regarded Megan Bosica as a relatively modest lacrosse player with an eagerness to blend in with the crowd.
That is until she steps on the field.
Division-I programs such as Maryland and Virginia showed interest, but the Mt. Hebron senior has committed to play lacrosse for the University of North Carolina in the fall of 2006.
She joins midfielders Melissa McCarthy and Stephanie Scurachio as the latest Mt. Hebron products to fill the Tar Heels? lacrosse roster.
The four-year starter has helped lead the Vikings to three state championships in her first three seasons, and has been regarded as one of the top players by area coaches for the past two years.
“Megan is a really humble player although she has enjoyed a lot of success in high school,” North Carolina head lacrosse coach Jenny Levy said. “She has been on our radar since her freshman year and has great instincts for the game and a tremendous work ethic.”
But with all of her success, Bosica still believes she must continue to develop a strong work ethic and keep striving to get better.
“After playing well in high school, I look at college as a chance to start over and continue to improve my game in practice,” Bosica said. “I feel I was just meant to be here [North Carolina], and hopefully I can make an impact on the team, and pick up a national title along the way.”
As a result of her efforts, she has provided solid play on the field.
In her junior year, she led the Vikings in scoring with 65 goals and 31 assists.Bosica also took over on the defensive side, winning 51 groundballs and causing 17 turnovers.
“When you meet your spouse you just know it, and when you meet someone of Megan?s caliber you just know you have something special,” Mt. Hebron lacrosse coach Brooke Kuhl-McClelland said.
