MINNEAPOLIS — You may remember Tony Goldwyn as the villain in both “Ghost” and “The Pelican Brief.” Now he’s co-president of the Creative Coalition, with whom he’s been affiliated for six years. So few people are as well-versed on the Hollywood-D.C. connection as he is.
But he got his first taste of it long before that, when he was researching his role as the corrupt chief of staff in “The Pelican Brief.” Goldwyn told us he met with ABC newsman George Stephanopoulos, who was a Clinton White House aide at the time. “He talked to me for an hour and a half,” Goldwyn said, “and I kept thinking, ‘You have a real job; what are you talking to me for?’ ”
So how would he compare and contrast the real D.C. with the fake one? “They operate very similarly,” he said. “The people are smarter in D.C.”
Don’t be so sure, Tony.
