Victor Reinoso, Mayor Adrian Fenty’s yet-to-be-confirmed deputy mayor for education, was on his way back downtown from a news conference at a Southeast elementary school Monday when he and an aide witnessed a horrific hit-and-run on Benning Road.
A car without plates struck a woman in the street and sped off. A witness to the crime, Reinoso stuck around to give aid and provide a statement to D.C. police when they arrived.
Perhaps if word gets to Council Chairman Vincent Gray, it will win Reinoso some points in his confirmation battle this fall.
