Buchanon goes on injured reserve

Phillip Buchanon’s season started poorly; it will end that way as well. The Redskins placed the cornerback on injured reserve Saturday, ending a season that never really started for him. Buchanon, who dealt with shoulder and neck injuries, was suspended by the NFL for the first four games of the season after testing positive for a performance enhancing drug. He never played in a game this season. Buchanon was a solid third cornerback last season.

Washington signed rookie cornerback Brandyn Thompson, a sixth-round pick, off the practice squad to take his spot. Thompson has appeared in two games this season.
