Hulede wins Bubby Worsham Memorial

Gonzaga senior John Hulede finished in style in the 63rd Bubby Worsham Memorial, making an eagle 3 on the final hole on his way to a five-stroke victory Wednesday at Glenn Dale Golf Club. Hulede (71-68-68 – 207) beat Jordan Sweet (70-71-71 – 212) and Cas Dickerson (72-71-70 – 213) in a Washington Metropolitan Golf Association tournament eligible to players age 16-20.

It was close until the back nine, where Hulede shot a 4-under 32, making birdies at No. 11 and No. 14. This is the first WMGA title for the Bowie resident.

Other winners this year in WMGA events were recent U.S. Amateur qualifier Maclain Huge (Middleberg Academy) in the Frank Emmet Schoolboy and defending Maryland public schools champion Tyler Silverberg (Wilde Lake) in the Bobby Gorin Memorial.
