Putting Tigers’ tournament in perspective

How bad was Tiger Woods’ performance in the Bridgestone Invitational, where he shot 74-72-75-77 — 298?

By Woods’ high standards it was historic. It was the highest-scoring four rounds of his professional career. Most of the time Woods has shot high numbers, it’s been in a major championship, where the course set-up has been tough.

But that was not the case at Firestone this weekend, where winner Hunter Mahan shot 12-under-par, 30 strokes better than the greatest player in the history of the game.

The following are Woods’ worst scores following four consecutive rounds in each of his last 16 seasons.
