The Redskins signed veteran offensive lineman Jeremy Bridges Tuesday, adding depth in the interior.

Bridges, a guard, has started 39 games since 2004, with Arizona and Carolina.

Bridges received a 60-day suspended jail sentence in November 2007, stemming from an incident in the parking lot at a Charlotte, N.C. strip club. Bridges was found guilty of pointing a gun at a stripper who was involved in an altercation with a friend of Bridges. The newest Redskin testified that he never pointed the gun at either person, instead holding it behind his back. He said he had the gun to try and defuse what he termed a potentially dangerous situation.

This past December, Bridges was arrested and charged with simple assault and battery and communicating threats. The incident occurred two nights before a Panthers game.

Carolina cut Bridges, a reserve guard, last month.
