O?Connor wins at home for Nats

It appears that Mt. St. Joe?s graduate Mike O?Connor may not be going back to the minors any time soon.

The left-handed pitcher from Howard County won his first start at home Sunday for the Washington Nationals, against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

O?Connor gave the Nats a solid effort, one day after Washington lost in 11 innings to the Pirates.

The George Washington University graduate won his first major league game on May 2, 6-2, over the Mets in New York. He started and allowed just one earned run and two hits in seven innings.

O?Connor has allowed four earned runs in 17 innings this season since he was called up in late April from Triple-A New Orleans. O?Connor is 2-1 with 2.12 ERA and has allowed 10 hits, 10 walks and struck out 11.
