In one of his last ceremonies for a championship team, President Bush welcomed the Boston Celtics to the White House on Friday.

“I do want to say congratulations to the owners,” he said. “You might recall I was an owner of a baseball team, and never knew what this felt like.”

Bush also name-checked the team’s catch phrase, “ubuntu.” “It is an African word for unity that they declared when they broke the huddle,” he explained. “I’ve been looking forward to saying that with a Texas accent. Ubuntu. Yes.”

And if there was any doubt that the president was aching to get out of Washington, he closed with this: “I wish you all the very best for the next season. Should you win it, you can find me in Texas.”
