Centennial Conference preview

Projected Order of Finish

Ursinus: The team to beat. The Bears? star player is junior DB DeVohn Butler (70 tackles, five INTs) who was named to the All-South Region team and the All-Centennial Conference first team last season. Last year, Ursinus allowed only 11.5 points per game and 2.6 yards per rush.

Johns Hopkins: The Blue Jays will rely heavily on three young returning offensive linemen-sophomores Aaron Chance, Tim Miller and Mike Stoffel. The team also returns all three of its starting linebackers last season from a team that allowed fewerthan 15 points per game last year.

Muhlenberg: The Mules return every defensive starter from last year, led by DE Chris Musselman, who leads all active Centennial Conference players with 14 career sacks. The Mules should win the close games and improve on last years? 5-5 mark. Special teams are also a plus, as the Mules blocked six kicks last year.

McDaniel: Led by fifth-year senior QB Brad Baer and an experienced offensive line, the Green Terror should rebound from last year?s 4-6 record ? its first losing season in 10 years.

Dickinson: Led by senior LB Eric Dube, a third-team All-American and reigning Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Year, the Red Devils are looking to win back-to-back titles.

Gettysburg: Experience will be the key for the Bullets, which return 40 letter winners and 15 starters. Gettysburg looks to have its offense, which scored 24 points per game last year, bolstered by the return of All-Centennial Conference RB Tom Sturges (1,141 yards rushing, 9 TDs).

Moravian: QB Eric Braxmeier (579 yards passing, 5 TDs) and RB Tyler Cambridge (815 yards rushing, 7 TDs) should lead a potent offense, but the defense must improve after allowing opponents 23.1 points per game last season.

Franklin & Marshall: After losing four games by eight or fewer points last year, the Diplomats will look for QB Kyle Turner (2,171 yards passing, 16 TDs) to win close games.

Juniata: With the graduation of RB Duane Ehredt (895 yards rushing, 10 TDs), the burden of leading the offense will fall to QB Jay Leonard (1,651 yards passing, 10 TDs).
