A little more than two hours north of the Washington D.C. area is one of the most challenging and fun tracks on the entire NASCAR circuit. Dover International Speedway is known to drivers and fans worldwide as “The Monster Mile” because it has the distinction of being only one of two tracks, along with Bristol, that has a concrete racing surface.
An estimated 40,000 NASCAR fans from Washington and Baltimore can’t wait to get to Dover this weekend because two of the sport’s top drivers, Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick, are feuding again. NASCAR placed them both on probation for four weeks and each were fined $25,000 on Tuesday.
We are talking about two of NASCAR’s top-five drivers — Busch is currently third and Harvick is fifth.
The fight began on the track last week at Darlington and escalated after the race concluded.
But the story gets better, and it is why Dover will no doubt have big crowds Friday, Saturday and Sunday because both Busch and Harvick are scheduled to race against each other in at least two of the three races.
They will face each other in Friday night’s Lucas Oil 200 that can be seen at 8:30 p.m. on Speed. Saturday’s 5-hour Energy 200 is airing at 2 p.m. on ESPN and will have Busch in it while Harvick has yet to declare if he will race. Then on Sunday, the big showdown between the drivers happens at 1 p.m. on Fox with the FedEx 400.
