Before we get started on what happened on the weekend let me correct something I wrote in today’s column on 106.7FM. I wrote that Maryland sports would be back on 106.7FM that is not correct – yet.
Chris Kinard told me they hope to have the Terps back but the deal is not yet done. So the Terps are not yet officially on 106.7FM The Fan. We will keep you posted where Maryland will land this season. Expect a deal will be done soon.
I spoke to Chad Dukes the other day about his new show with Lavar Arrington. Dukes told me that he was amped about the new show:”It is great to be doing sports again plus working Lavar Arrington is going to be super. We are going to really have fun with the show and I think the fans will enjoy the show.”
Also good to super producer Chris Johnson back in Washington producing the Mike Wise Show.
ABC/ESPN did a great job all week covering the entire Tom Watson story this week. They were able to give Watson the respect he deserved for an amazing four days of golf at Turnberry. Meanwhile they did not overlook the brilliant job that Stewart Cink winning his first major.
Mike Tirico, Terry Gannon and Peter Alliss all used their storytelling skills to walk right up edge without overhyping Watson’s run at the Open title.
Meanwhile, his ABC/ESPN colleagues Tom Weiskopf, Curtis Strange, Andy North and Paul Azinger were all contemporaries of Watson and were able to truly understand the accomplishment of their 59 year old partner.
It was a wonderful story handled perfectly by ABC/ESPN. Credit also the fine work of Judy Rankin, who did a wonderful job being an outstanding course reporter.
Four stars to the crew at ABC/ESPN….
