The Caps look for three in a row tonight when the face the injury-riddled New York Islanders, who are missing their top three scores from 2009-10. So no Kyle Okposo or Mark Streit (shoulder surgeries) and no John Tavares (concussion). Doesn’t mean Washington can take this one for granted, though. Three of the four meetings between the two teams went to overtime last season.

Michal Neuvirth gets the start again in goal for the Caps. He is 2-1 with a 2.62 GAA and a .916 save percentage. New York starts veteran Dwayne Roloson for the first time this season. Left wing Matt Moulson leads the Islanders with two goals. Washington already has three players – Alex Ovechkin, Eric Fehr and Brooks Laich – who have multiple goals. Ovechkin leads with three.

Bruce Boudreau grimaced – I’m not even kidding – when I asked him after Tuesday practice about his perfect penalty-kill unit, which is 12-for-12 this season. The man’s superstitions know no bounds. So I’ll take the blame if the Islanders go 4-for-4 tonight, I guess. But the Caps are playing pretty well using their new PK system. We’ll see how they hold up tonight.
