Caitlin Clark enters WNBA draft

University of Iowa basketball star Caitlin Clark announced Thursday that she will enter the 2024 WNBA draft.

Clark is in her final season playing for the Hawkeyes, who are No. 6 in this week’s Associated Press Top 25.

“It is impossible to fully express my gratitude to everyone who has supported me during my time at Iowa — my teammates, who made the last four years the best; my coaches, trainers, and staff who always let me be me; Hawkeye fans who filled Carver every night; and everyone who came out to support us across the country, especially the young kids,” Clark wrote on X. “Because of all of you, my dreams came true.”

Since Clark joined the Hawkeyes in 2020, ticket prices have increased by 207%, per ticket retailer Vivid Seats. Data also indicate that fans were willing to travel 32% more this season compared to last year. Meanwhile, the Iowa men’s basketball team lagged with an average ticket price of $66 versus a $120 average for tickets to the women’s games.

Fans can attend the WNBA draft, scheduled for April 15 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, for the first time since 2016. Twelve teams will undergo three rounds of picks.
