Chapelgate on a roll

Chapelgate Christian has made some noise this spring.

The baseball team went into this week with an 11-2 record, and 8-0 in the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association B Conference.

Last Wednesday, sophomore pitcher Matt Siggins pitched a no-hitter and the Yellowjackets registered a 1-0 victory over St. Mary?s.

In a tight MIAA A conference baseball race, Mount St. Joseph hit a slight bump in the road against Gilman earlier this week.

The Greyhounds scored a pair of runs in the top of the seventh inning and held on for a 6-5 victory. The Gaels (8-3)fell 1-1/2 games off the pace of first-place Archbishop Spalding, which kept on rolling, with a 7-5 win over St. Paul?s.

At 4-8, Gilman currently sits in eighth-place, but only 2-1/2 games separate five teams sandwiched between fifth and ninth. The top six teams qualify for the double-elimination championship tournament.
