It was 35 days ago that the Ravens? Roderick Green was released from Sinai Hospital in Baltimore after suffering a near fatal stab wound in Randallstown on July 7. After a night of bowling, he left Kings Point Lanes and was stabbed by a man in the parking lot, sending him to the hospital with a gaping wound.
Throughout the trauma, Green vowed to enter training camp as scheduled on July 27. Since that time, he said doctors have cleared him to do all drills associated with training camp.
He said he can?t afford to hold anything back when it comes to the practices at McDaniel College.
“The coaches haven?t taken it easy on me, and I don?t want them to,” Green said. “I don?t want to be coached like a guy with an injury.”
Green kept up with his fellow defensive teammates Adalius Thomas and Gary Stills during 65-yard sprints on Monday. The third-year linebacker/defensive end from Central Missouri State University said he is a little out of shape but no more so than other defensive teammates.
Last season, Green appeared in all 16 games for the Ravens and recorded two sacks. A fifth-round draft pick in 2004, Green is third on the defensive end depth chart behind Terrell Suggs and Jarret Johnson.
Stills said if he hadn?t heard about Green?s injury, he never would have known anything was wrong.
“If you ask me, he has come into camp and he hasn?t missed a beat,” Stills said.
It appears so. Green tackled running back Mike Jemison for no gain in the fourth quarter of Friday?s preseason game against the New York Giants. Green said he felt fine during his first game since the incident.
Battling for a roster spot, Green said he plans to play all the preseason games and see where he lands on the team.
“I played the last preseason game and I plan to play in all four,” he said. “Nothing is going to stop me.”
