…Robert Henson had a big stick on special teams. In the first quarter, Darrel Young made a nice play on a punt as well.
…Kevin Barnes will make the roster, but he’s just not ready to play a lot against experienced receivers. That’s not a knock, just a fact. Justin Tryon is much further ahead and has steadily played better each week. He continues to play in the slot at times, but he’s doing a better job. He’ll get beat, I’m sure, at times. But he’s improved.
…Chase Daniel had no chance thanks to his protection. He had a pass dropped by Marko Mitchell, had a pass batted down because Chad Rinehart was shoved back and was pressured because the tackles couldn’t protect.
…Mike Williams can’t play. I know he hasn’t been in a game in three years, but he was whipped twice in protection. Jeremy Bridges was beaten once. He can’t play tackle. Why don’t the Redskins see this already?
…Daniel had one nice run and did you notice? Marcus Mason picked up the blitzing linebacker. Alas, Marko Mitchell committed a dumb penalty with a block in the back on the run. No need, son. Cost the team a first down.
… Reed Doughty has been very active. Very active. But it helps when no one blocks you on a blitz.
…Byron Westbrook made a good play at the end of the half, but he gets beaten too much to warrant a roster spot. In practice, it’s with regularity.
…The more I see of Lendy Holmes, the more I like. Maybe he’s the surprise pick. He’s made several nice plays tonight. He applied pressure on a blitz when he ran through the back (see that, LaRon Landry?) and made a nice open field tackle on a smoke route to the right.
…Chris Wilson did a nice job playing the run as a linebacker. Got off a couple blocks to make plays. But I’d like to see him play with more strength in his lower body. He gets knocked back just a bit, but he gets there and makes the stop and allows others to get in on the play. H.B. Blades did that. Another guy, by the way, who was active. Blades did a better job getting off blocks.
…The offense can’t do anything because they can’t open running lanes and they can’t protect the passer. Other than that, fantastic. By the way, did you see that after Daniel fumbled, big Mike Williams flopped onto the pile. Thanks, dude.
