A pair of Washington Freedom youngsters are among the 24 players called up by U.S. head coach Pia Sundhage for a pair of friendlies next month against Sweden, July 13 in Omaha, Neb., and July 17 in East Hartford, Conn.
It’s the first call-up for midfielder Allie Long and the second for midfielder Sarah Huffman. In addition, former Washington player and Dumfries, Va., native Ali Krieger has been called into the squad from FFC Frankfurt. Krieger, the only foreign-based member of the U.S. pool, has made 3 appearances for the national team. Freedom forward Abby Wambach is also on the squad.
