Beckham will be back in June

D.C. United will be featured in a nationally-televised doubleheader with the European championship final and will go the entire month of July without a league match during its 2008 regular-season schedule announced Thursday.

Jaime Moreno and United will host David Beckham and the Los Angeles Galaxy at noon on June 29. The game will be televised by ABC and will be followed by the Euro 2008 championship game, according to a report in the Sports Business Journal.

D.C.’s nearly five-week stretch without a regular-season game has been set aside to make room for SuperLiga and the U.S. Open Cup.

Six of United’s home matches will occur simultaneously with Nationals baseball games, which could create a parking conflict at RFK Stadium. Nats president Stan Kasten last week mentioned the possibility of shuttling baseball fans who parked at RFK to Nationals Park. The issue is being discussed with the D.C. Sports and Entertainment Commission.
