Only a few spots remain for the annual Ripken Baseball College and Professional Showcase, to be held Oct. 13 to 15 at Ripken Stadium and the Ripken Baseball Academy in Aberdeen.
The event allows local high school players to display their skills in front of college coaches and professional scouts at one of the country?s premiere baseball facilities.

The showcase provides high school prospects with a great opportunity to be seen and evaluated by college coaches from various levels, as well as professional scouts in a testing environment and game setting.
In addition, attendees will be introduced to the college recruiting process by an NCAA Division I compliance director and learn about what college coaches and pro scouts look for when evaluating young prospects.
The event kicks off Friday evening on the club level of Ripken Stadium with a panel discussion on NCAA recruiting policies and procedures and the characteristics college coaches of various levels look for in their recruits.
A Q&A session with assembled experts will follow.
Saturday?s activities include position-specific breakout sessions with college coaches and pro scouts, followed by defensive evaluations of outfielders, catchers, infielders and pitchers.
Afterward, participants will be timed in the 60-yard dash before breaking for lunch.
Saturday afternoon will include offensive evaluations through on-field batting practice, hitting drills and cage hitting. Former major leaguers Bill Ripken and Rick Krivda also will share their experiences and expertise with the participants.
On Sunday, participants will play in a game before the assembled coaches and scouts.
