It might come as a surprise to some but Baltimore is an NBA city. OK we no longer have a franchise as the Bullets are now the Wizards and play their games in Washington but the national television ratings show that of the non NBA cities Baltimore consistently rates in the top ten when it comes to watching pro hoops.

Carmelo Anthony, Juan Dixon, Keith Booth, Sam Cassell and Tyrone “Muggsy,” Bogues are but a few stars that grew up playing basketball in Baltimore and have gone on to make name for themselves in “the association.

CSN will have over 77 Wizards games that can be seen this year with all home games airing in HD. Also one slight change of note and that is some Wizards (and Caps hockey) will air on the new CSNPlus channel which is easy to find because it the same channel MASN2. (MASN will get the channel back come baseball season.)

ESPN, TNT, WGN, and NBA TV will account for over 400 live telecasts this season to make sure even the most die hard hoops fan is satisfied.

There will for the first time in NBA history be a game on every night and all of them will be in HD (where available).

ESPN will showcase their games on Wednesday’s and Friday’s meanwhile TNT will air their broadcasts on Thursday’s. ESPN on ABC will again hold down the Sunday telecasts with NBA.TV covering Sunday nights, Monday and Tuesday.

SIRIUS Satellite Radio will have all the NBA games and selected games can be heard on ESPN Radio. Wizards fans can hear the games on Sports Talk 980AM – WTEM.

Hockey fans have a new outlet. Comcast added to their popular sports pack NHL TV and there are plenty of live games and classic telecasts to watch. Also puck heads can see games Monday and Tuesday nights in primetime on Versus and of course they can watch the Capitals on CSN and CSNPlus. All the NHL action can be heard on XM with Caps on 3WT radio 1500AM in Washington doing the honors.

This weekend Sunday’s Colts-Pats telecast on CBS is a 4:15pm start and could very set an all time record for a regular season afternoon telecast. You have the hype of Brady vs. Manning plus you have two teams that plain just don’t like each other. It is a must watch this weekend.
