Dear Dan Snyder,
You bought a pig in a poke. We’re sorry about that — but that’s what happens when you try and play general manager and your background is not in football.
We’re willing to let that go — that was in the past, and you’ve shown us, we hope, that things have changed with new coach Mike Shanahan and GM Bruce Allen.
Now here’s where you can really show us change — keep Albert Haynesworth. But we’re not advocating that you play him. Fat Albert’s acting like he’s holding all the cards because the Redskins have paid him more than $30 million. Any player who says, “My number one goal has always been to help my team win — period,” and then decides to sit out a mandatory camp — let alone an optional one — is delusional.
However, because of his antics and off-the-field issues, his trade value right now is zilch. Banishing him to Oakland or Detroit is too good for this guy.
Keep him around and put him on the Reserve/Did Not Report list. Make him sit.
He has said in the past he wants to be in the Hall of Fame and post Reggie White-like numbers. Punish him like the misbehaving, spoiled brat that he is. No one gets to the Hall by sitting on the bench.
