Keep a bead on these guys at the Final Four

The spotlight will be on big-time stars and NBA prospects like Kentucky’s Anthony Davis, Kansas’ Thomas Robinson and Ohio State’s Jared Sullinger at the Final Four. But they each need special contributions from their less heralded teammates to win a national title. Here are four guys who could make big shots in the Big Easy: Lenzelle Smith Jr., Ohio State » The sophomore guard averages 6.7 points per game, but his production has been feast or famine for much of the season — and mostly feast with William Buford struggling during the NCAA tournament. With Smith stepping up, the Buckeyes can get by Kansas. To win it all, they will need Buford, too.

Elijah Johnson, Kansas » The best college teams need a specialist who can spread the floor. With nine 3-pointers in four tournament games, Johnson has done just that for the Jayhawks, scoring in double figures in the last six games, double his previous best streak this season.

Doron Lamb, Kentucky » While Terrence Jones’ draft prospects have swung wildly from his first to second college seasons, Lamb was steady all season and has picked up his game in the NCAAs. He has shot 57 percent from the field and 60 percent from beyond the arc in the tournament.

Kyle Kuric, Louisville » Here’s how Kuric has shot from 3-point range in the Cardinals’ last four losses: 1-for-6, 0-for-7, 2-for-8, 1-for-7. In a 69-62 loss against Kentucky on Dec. 31, he only got two attempts off from long distance. If he can shake himself free Saturday, he will give Louisville its best chance at an upset.
