Limited time only: Bhutan s most eligible bachelor

The most eligible bachelor in Washington, D.C., the next two weeks may be Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck, prince of the Kingdom of Bhutan, who is in town for the 42nd annual Smithsonian Folklife Festival on the National Mall.

“Very good-looking, isn’t he?” Paljor Donji, deputy minister to the prince and adviser on environmental issues, asked Yeas and Nays. “Back at home it is tough keeping the girls off of him. He is not married, he is single.” (Sounds as if Jigyel has his people hard at work trying to find him a wife).

Who knows whether Prince Wangchuck will find his Mrs. Right, but he is being embraced by all sorts of distinguished guests, including Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who was envious of the prince’s boots.

“I told his highness backstage that, as a Texan all my life, I have never been out-booted, and those boots that he has on put mine to shame,” Perry said. “Also, I told him that if he could hook me up with his boot maker that I would reciprocate.”
