Trump congratulates Dodgers on World Series win with invite to White House

President Donald Trump congratulated the Los Angeles Dodgers as “incredible champions” for winning the World Series for a second year in a row.

“Congratulations to the L.A. Dodgers, a game won by incredible CHAMPIONS!!! A lesser group of men would never have been able to win that game, or game 6, for that matter. So many stars made it all happen. Also, congratulations to ownership. What a great job they have done,” Trump wrote on Truth Social early Sunday.

Game 7 of the World Series went to extra innings when Miguel Rojas hit a home run to tie the game in the top of the ninth inning. Rojas was the first player to make such a play in the history of the final game of the World Series.

“SEE YOU ALL AT THE WHITE HOUSE!!!” Trump added in his post.

The Dodgers visited Trump in the White House in April following their previous World Series win. Their second win marks the first time a team has become repeat champions in 25 years.

Back in April, the team agreed to appear at the White House, citing at the time “long-standing baseball tradition.” Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) was in attendance, but Trump refused to introduce him. Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA) was not present.

At four hours and seven minutes, this latest Game 7 became the second-longest in World Series history. The longest came in 1924 between the then-Washington Senators and the New York Giants, which lasted 12 innings.
