If you ever wanted to make like Keith Moon and have your way with a hotel, New Year’s Eve may be your chance.

On Jan. 1, 2008, the Hotel Washington closes its doors after 90 years in business. (It will be rechristened as a W Hotel sometime in 2009). So local event promotion company Professionals in the City is hosting a New Year’s Eve party there, which promises attendees “exclusive access to the entire hotel for the final 24 hours of the hotel’s existence.”

Apart from 225,000 square feet of party space, the invitation promises a “countdown extravaganza hosted by Chris America, America’s most popular Madonna impressionist,” DJs, open bar and different-color bracelets for singles and couples (just in case you forget which you are).

The hotel has fallen on hard times of late, but it was once one of D.C.’s premier properties, appearing on film in “Contact,” “The District,” “The Godfather II,” “No Way Out,” “Navy Seals” and “The West Wing.”
