The NBA is going to promote the heck out of its biggest teams and brightest superstars, but here are the top five players we’re looking forward to seeing make a name for themselves: 5. Jordan Crawford, SG/PG, Wizards » The Wizards fleeced Atlanta in bringing the confident, explosive scorer to Washington in last year’s Kirk Hinrich trade. He averaged 19.3 points and 4.7 assists in 18 games as a starter, and he will make a strong case to make that spot his own even if Nick Young returns.
4. Eric Gordon, SG, L.A. Clippers ?»

Thanks to struggles and missed games because of a right wrist injury, it’s easy to forget Gordon still finished the year averaging 22.3 points and 4.4 assists. Blake Griffin casts a big shadow, but Gordon is a dynamic star in waiting.
3. James Harden, SG, Oklahoma City » He represented Los Angeles’ Drew League in charity games all summer and before that was a crucial part of the Thunder’s postseason with 13.0 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists per playoff game.
2. Gordon Hayward, F, Utah » The 6-foot-9 swingman from Butler emerged late last year, scoring in double digits seven times in the final 10 games, including a 34-point season finale against Denver.
1. Ricky Rubio, PG, Minnesota »
Remember when the Wizards had the fifth pick in the 2009 draft? That’s where Rubio went to Minnesota after a trade with Washington. His arrival from Spain has been anticipated ever since. Rubio’s now 21 and 6-5, and Timberwolves forward Kevin Love likely can’t wait for his first pick and roll.
