Ravens head coach Brian Billick described starting quarterback Steve McNair as “groggy” on Monday, one day after the 12-year veteran suffered a concussion in a loss to Carolina.
Billick said the concussion was the result of jerk of McNair?s neck combined with the hit of two Carolina defenders at the same time. McNair was released from the hospital after the game Sunday.

“He seems to be OK, and right now, there?s no reason to believe he won?t available for us two weeks from now when we go to New Orleans,” Billick said. “So that?s very good news.”
Rookie safety Dawan Landry, who recorded his first career interception Sunday, sprained his anterior cruciate ligament during the game.
“If we were to play this week, he would probably be listed today as doubtful and probably by Wednesday as questionable,” Billick said. “The prognosis on him … is pretty good.”
Billick not dwelling on negatives: Billick said the team?s coaches and players would evaluate various problems in the next week but would that they will not dwell on the recent slide. The Ravens, despite a two-game losing streak, are 4-2 and still atop the AFC North.
“We?re going to focus on a lot of positive things right now,” Billick said. “The negative things, we?re going to lookreal hard at, but I?m not going to spend a lot of time dwelling on it.”
Billick said he was aware of public complaints voiced by running back Jamal Lewis and receiver Derrick Mason. Lewis reiterated Sunday that he needs more carries to wear down opposing defenses, while Mason continues to be unhappy with the overall performance of the team?s offense.
“There?s no upside to responding to the frustrations of the game of a player,” Billick said.
Moore released: Receiver Clarence Moore was released over the weekend. Moore was sidelined for much of training camp recovering from a sports hernia and inactive for three of the team?s first five games.
In his press conference Monday, Billick appeared to leave the door open for a potential return for Moore.
Boulware to join Ring of Honor: The Ravens announced Monday that they will induct Peter Boulware into the team?s Ring of Honor at M&T Bank Stadium Nov. 5.
The linebacker was released by the team following the 2005 season. Boulware, the fourth overall selection of the 1997 draft, did not sign with another team after a nine-year career, in which he became the franchise?s all-time sack leader with 70. In 2001, Boulware led the AFC with 15 sacks.
“Peter was such a great warrior,” Billick said.
“His passion and energy. That focused passion on game day to get to the quarterback. His whole world was getting to that quarterback. He was great to be around.”
