From the look of things, Sen. Barack Obama has all sorts of people “fired up” and “ready to go” when it comes to his presidential ambitions.

But not Rep. Tom Cole, R-Okla.

Sure, sure: He’s a Republican. And he’s the chairman of he National Republican Congressional Committee. But during a breakfast Tuesday morning sponsored by The AmericanSpectator magazine, Cole didn’t hold back when it came do his thoughts about “Obama-mentum.”

» “It’s a big mistake. … He has the thinnest public resume of anybody running for president since Wendell Wilkie.” (Wilkie was the GOP’s 1940 nominee, despite having never previously held an elected office.)

» “He is not a plausible commander in chief during a time of war.”

» “He may be a phenomenon but come on: He beat Alan Keyes in Illinois! He hasn’t been tested.”

» “I don’t see him as some 9-foot-tall, overwhelming candidate.”
