Politics Can Be Such a Drag

We’re used to such comedians as Will Ferrell and Frank Caliendo doing impersonations of President Bush, but Drag Kings?!?

If you were at the 9:30 Club on Saturday, you would have seen Drag Kings (that’s women dressing up as men, for those playing at home) taking on the role of our commander in chief (and Vice President Dick Cheney, Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, former first lady Barbara Bush and former President George H.W. Bush …). It was the Great Big International Drag Show, and one act parodied the White House gang as a way to protest “the direction that the country and the current administration is going” with the war in Iraq, according to Jen Sizer (drag name: Roland Bluntz), who helped create the performance.
