Beyoncé visits Kwame Brown’s mentoring session
Before her concert at the Verizon Center Thursday night, Beyoncé took a few minutes to greet a group of about 100 local girls who were attending an academic and career forum at the arena.
Organized by at-large Council Member Kwame Brown, the “Defining Our Destiny Forum” focused on career goals, academic achievement and ending violence. But the high point for the girls was the visit by the singer/actress. Reached just as Beyoncé was on her way down, Brown told Yeas & Nays she planned to take pictures with all the girls.
In addition, Brown said he and Wizards owner Abe Pollin agreed to split the cost so all the girls could attend the concert.
