Boston proved to be no match for the Scots, as the tourists drank the Samuel Adams Downtown Boston Taproom dry of their flagship lager for Scotland’s World Cup matches.
The number of thirsty fans is known as the Tartan Army — the nickname for loyal Scotland soccer fans.

Surging demand for the beer prompted an emergency delivery on Saturday, according to WCVB5.
The Boston Beer Co. said staff collected 70 empty kegs on Monday. The taproom sold more than 3,000 pints of Boston Lager over four days, which is four times their normal rate of sale during a four-day holiday weekend, such as the Fourth of July.
Additional deliveries are expected to keep up with the demand.
Boston has emerged as a major fan hub for the Scots, complete with street marches, singing and chanting, and, of course, bagpipes playing.
The fans even caught the attention of Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, who signed off on an international partnership between Boston and Glasgow.
“The Scottish community has helped shape Boston for centuries, and today we’re proud to build on those longstanding ties by establishing a sister-city partnership with Glasgow,” Wu said in a press release.
“Our cities share rich histories, world-class educational institutions, vibrant cultural communities, and a commitment to innovation and opportunity. We look forward to strengthening the connections between our residents, businesses, and institutions as we build a partnership rooted in shared values and collaboration.”
UK Consul General David Clay also commented on the excitement, noting the passion in the two cities and the future potential for continued growth.

“As Scotland supporters have filled Boston this week, it has been wonderful to see the enthusiasm with which Bostonians have welcomed the Tartan Army and Scottish visitors have embraced this great city,” Clay said.
The World Cup Group C match between Scotland and Morocco takes place at 6 p.m. EDT in Boston on Friday. Then the team heads to Miami to play Brazil on June 24.
