Football season has begun. Redskins coverage from all fronts is in overdrive and we are just hours into training camp. The tweets are going out from Redskins Park, talk shows have full phone banks and the video crews have documented every possible second of Camp Shanahan.
The Washington Examiner has the most experienced coverage out at Redskins Park with John Keim and Rick Snider. Follow them on Twitter and washingtonexaminer.com.
ESPN 980AM is wall-to-wall burgundy and gold as one might expect as the “Home of the Redskins.” They have home-field advantage being owned by Redskins owner Dan Snyder. The station has solid football guys like Doc Walker, Andy Pollin, Steve Czaban and Kevin Sheehan. Plus, they have a new Redskins beat reporter Chris Russell, who will join Al Galdi in covering the team.
Over at 106.7 “The Fan,” they offer a full day of Redskins coverage starting at 6 a.m. with “The Sports Junkies.” Mike Wise and Holden Kushner continue the conversation that leads into former Redskin LaVar Arrington and his afternoon drive-time show with Chad Dukes. They have at least two reporters on the ground at Redskins Park and anchor Liz Drabick pulls things all together.
“The John Riggins Show” on WTOP-FM 103.5, also simulcasted on MASN, uses the news department of the “mother ship” News Radio WTOP with George Wallace providing the news from Redskins Park.
On the TV side, “Training Camp Daily” will air on CSN weeknights at 7 p.m.
The half-hour show will be led by Comcast SportsNet Redskins and Ravens television beat reporters Kelli Johnson and Brent Harris, who will be reporting each day from the teams’ respective training camp headquarters. “Training Camp Daily” will be hosted by Russ Thaler from the Comcast SportsNet studios, with additional reporting from Chick Hernandez.
“Redskins Nation” with Larry Michael and Larry Weisman has the best seat in the house for their show that airs at 6 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. weeknights on CSN.
All that coverage does not take into account what NBC 4, FOX 5, ABC 7, and WUSA 9 will be doing on all of their local newscasts.
Football season is here and so is the 24/7 coverage.
