Add another fan to the list of thousands of Baltimoreans who are frustrated with the Ravens: Bimbo.
That?s right ? the city?s most popular monkey is upset with the performance of her favorite team. Before we had our pigskin-picking Princess select her winners for this weekend?s NFL games, we asked her to answer the city?s most pressing question: Who should start at quarterback? When presented with bobbleheads of Steve McNair and Kyle Boller, Bimbo did what every self-respecting monkey would do: She smacked her forehead with her hand.
“She?s just really not interested in this: She?s hiding her head,” Joyce Dietsch, one of Bimbo?scaretakers, said. “She couldn?t make a decision. It was too disturbing.”
However, Bimbo solved the dilemma by tapping McNair. But for the sake of fairness, we let Bimbo?s best friend, Oogie, make her pick, since she watches Ravens games alongside Bimbo from her adjacent cage. Oogie, a very aggressive monkey, grabbed for Boller. But it is unclear if she wanted Boller to start or if she wanted to throw the bobblehead against the walls of her cage until it broke. We also did not have a bobblehead of Troy Smith.
Regardless, Bimbo is not happy with the Ravens, so who do you think she picked to win Sunday?s game?
“They let her down, too,” Colleen Layton-Robbins, who owns Frisky?s Wildlife & Primate Sanctuary in Woodstock, said. “They didn?t just let the fans down, they let the monkey down.”
Bimbo picked the Ravens to beat the Bengals last week, which contributed to her going 7-7 after Indianapolis? Adam Vinatieri missed a 29-yard field goal that would likely have defeated the Chargers. However, her 7-7 record tied Amelia Ryerse of 98 Rock, but topped the Chief Executive Officer of Clarity Media, Ryan McKibben (5-9). For the record, Bimbo is 1-0-1 against the 98 Rock?s morning show ? she defeated Mickey Cucchiella two weeks ago ? and is 2-1 against Examiner management.
Bimbo will look to remain undefeated against 98 Rock?s morning show when she faces Josh Spiegel, in addition to going one-on-one with WHFS (105.7 FM) talk-show host Ed Norris and her biggest name opponent to date: Joe Montana. Yes, that Joe Montana ? the guy who won four Super Bowls. He was in town to promote high blood pressure awareness.
So it?s Super Spiegel versus Super Cop versus Super Bowl-winning quarterback versus Super Monkey.
The winner gets a banana.
