Czaban and the crew return to mornings

In a couple of weeks Steve Czaban will return to mornings doing a national show for Sporting News Radio. The new Steve Czaban Show will have all the elements of his old nationally syndicated program the First Team on Fox. Czaban has put together his old pals, Scott Linn, Al Galdi and Steve Solomon for the new program set to launch around the first week of September and it will be heard locally on a station to be named soon.

I spoke to Czaban about his new show and what we can expect.

Czaban on going back to mornings:”I really can’t tell you how happy I am about having a morning show again. I think what we had at FSR was special and now to be able to have it back on a national level with SNR is just super. Clancy Woods the CEO of Mission Media and SNR really understands the talk radio business and he is giving me and the gang a freedom to be as creative as we want and you just can’t ask for anything more. I am also happy that we will be on the air on here in Washington so our local listeners have access to us. Having our local listeners really does make for the best of both worlds.”

Czaban will also keep his afternoon drive time slot with long time partner Andy Pollin as The Sports Reporters will continue weekdays at 4pm to 7pm on ESPN 980AM.

Speaking of 980AM I spoke to a number of highly placed sources at the station and long time CEO Bruce Gilbert will indeed be leaving the station to return to Dallas to work for CBS. But that is entirely a personal decision on his part and any reports of the sale of the station or wholesale programming changes are simply not going to happen.

Look for the line-up to stay the same and while many of us wish the new Steve Czaban Show would air on ESPN 980AM they are contractually bound to carry Mike and Mike in the Morning.

I have more with the popular local host as we get closer to the shows launch later this month.
