High school sensation Aquille Carr is known as “The Crimestopper” because of the 5-foot-6 guard’s legendary ability to bring the underbelly of East Baltimore to a halt when he takes to the basketball court. The rising senior at Patterson High is supposed to be the centerpiece of a rejuvenated Seton Hall.
But in an ironic twist, the Baltimore Sun reported that Carr was arrested last week on a domestic assault charge. Instead of his playing exploits keeping criminals off the streets, Carr’s legal troubles will keep him out of the Under Armour Elite 24 all-star event in Venice, Calif.
The charges of second-degree assault and reckless endangerment that Carr faces are misdemeanors.
According to police records, he is accused of throwing his former girlfriend, Treshonda Williams, to the ground outside a Southeast Baltimore trade school and kicking and punching her.
Carr doesn’t have a prior history of run-ins with the law, and he hasn’t been convicted of any crime. But it remains to be seen how much the charges slow his rising stardom.
