Small faces
The Palm is undergoing renovations to double the bar, redesign the kitchens and restrooms, and expand the private dining room in front with a glass-enclosed veranda.
But when the famous power spot reopens in the fall, you’ll notice something else that’s different: more of its
famous caricatures on the wall.
Yeas & Nays has gotten a sneak peek at some of the new famous faces you can expect to see when doors open later in September.
The list skews slightly young, perhaps an attempt to lure younger customers. It is also very heavy on media types, including CNN’s Ed Henry, DC Magazine’s Peter Abrahams, Fox 5’s Laura Evans, Capitol File’s Jason Binn, Politico’s Anne Schroeder, ABC’s George Stephanopolous and his actress wife Ali Wentworth, NBC 4’s sports reporter Lindsay Czarniak, CBS’s Bob Schieffer, Washingtonian’s Jack Limpert, DC 101’s Elliot Segal, Gannett’s Craig Dubow, and ESPN’s Mike Wilbon and Tony Reali. Your trusty Yeas & Nays columnists will also land a spot on the wall (though we hope they’re nowhere near each other — we already spend too much time together).
More new faces: Georgetown Coach John Thompson III, lobbyist Tommy Boggs, Nationals owner Ted Lerner, Hoop Dreams’ Susie Kay, Dress for Success’ Jennifer McNulty, WCTC’s William Hanbury, Ann Hand Jewelry’s Ashley Taylor, Accenture’s Dennis Hightower, AOL’s Randy Falco and D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty.
The reactions to the Palm’s invitation to be included on the wall were overwhelmingly positive: Word is that not one person turned down the offer. Schieffer apparently was hysterically happy to be included. Hightower even hand-delivered a photo of himself to be used in the making of the caricature. Some have asked whether they’re being included as “famous” or “infamous.” The Palm’s response: “If you have to ask …”
