The Wolfpack won both regular-season meetings as Scott Wood made a combined seven of 14 shots from beyond the arc. N.C. State (20-11) is on the bubble but probably can’t reach the NCAAs without at least two wins in the ACC tournament. The Wolfpack lack quality wins, going 0-5 against the conference’s top four seeds. Boston College (9-21), which starts four freshmen, won one game away from home and has matched the program record for losses in a season. The winner will face No. 4 Virginia (22-8).

No. 7 Clemson vs. No. 10 Va. Tech

When » Thursday, 7 p.m.

Where » Philips Arena, Atlanta

TV » Ch. 20

Radio » 106.7 FM

These teams were evenly matched in the regular season, with each winning on its home floor by two points. In both, Clemson rallied after Virginia Tech built a double-digit lead in the first half. After going to the NIT four straight years, Virginia Tech (15-16) needs to win two games in the ACC tournament just to qualify for the postseason. After going to the NCAAs four straight years, Clemson (16-14) probably needs to win the ACC tournament to return. Coach Brad Brownell has not lost an opening-round conference tournament game in nine seasons as a coach at UNC Wilmington, Wright State and Clemson. The winner will play No. 2 Duke (26-5) on Friday.

No. 6 Miami at No. 11 Georgia Tech

When » Thursday, 9 p.m.

Where » Philips Arena, Atlanta

TV » Ch. 20

Radio » ESPN 980

This is a battle of first-year coaches in Jim Larranaga (Miami) and Brian Gregory (Georgia Tech). Miami won the lone meeting 64-49 on this floor, which Georgia Tech used this season because a new facility is being built on campus. The Hurricanes (18-11) are squarely on the NCAA bubble. A first-round loss would doom their chances. Two wins in the ACC tournament probably would clinch a berth. The winner of Thursday’s game will face No. 3 Florida State. Georgia Tech (11-19) won the tournament in 1985, the second of six times Atlanta hosted.
