With its 2-0 win over Woodbridge on Tuesday, Hylton’s boys soccer team is off to its best start since its student body was split to open Forest Park six years ago.
Senior forward Juan Lanza scored both goals for the Bulldogs (5-2-1, 3-0 Cardinal District) off assists from junior Jefry Sandoval and sophomore Zach Rusk. Senior goalkeeper Ramon Paniagua had another solid outing in the net.
After finishing the 2005 season 1-13-2, Hylton is undefeated in its last six matches.
The streak includes a 2-1 win over the Bruins (7-1, 1-1), which was Forest Park’s first loss of the season. Tuesday’s victory was Hylton’s first over the Vikings (2-3-1, 0-2) since 2001.
“We went through some trying times last year,” said Bulldogs second-year coach Kerry Reid. “Competition for playing time has served us well. They realize what they have to do to get the minutes.”
