Minnesota is all that
If you were at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, you probably heard a common gripe amongst attendees: What’s the deal with this split-city convention? While the convention itself was held in St. Paul’s Xcel Energy Center, lots of events — and hotel rooms — were to be found across the Mississippi River in Minneapolis, leading not only to complicated itineraries but high taxi fares as well.
We decided to get the opinion of a notable Minnesotan on the situation: actress Rachael Leigh Cook.
“I think St. Paul was the smart place to hold the convention,” the “She’s All That” star told Yeas & Nays. “There’s just a lot less foot traffic there and it’s easier to close off streets there.” (Not sure if that’s a compliment or an insult …)
Cook didn’t have an opinion on the Minneapolis/St. Paul rivalry, namely because she just doesn’t understand why the two towns are so fiercely competitive with — and judgmental of — each other.
“It’s like hating your conjoined twin! How can you do that?!?” she asked.
Still, she understood why lots of RNC attendees were frustrated by how long it took to get around.
“There’s an old joke in Minnesota that says we have two seasons: Winter and road construction. We’re in road construction season right now so getting around Minneapolis is pretty difficult.”
