Preseason schedule set

Nothing like a good preseason game to, well, … do what, exactly? But this year, with a new coaching staff and a high draft pick, there will be more anticipation. Until the games actually begin then everyone will want to fast forward to the season.

Anyway, here is the Redskins’ preseason schedule (times and dates are still to be determined):

Week 1: Home vs. Buffalo. The Bills aren’t a bad team, but have no quarterback and have a new coach in Chan Gailey. Heaven help them. But the Bills wanted Mike Shanahan, who didn’t want them.

Week 2: Baltimore. More insincere talk about this being a rivalry and more mention of the Battle of the Beltway. Whatever. The Ravens are always a good test and this year will be no different.

Week 3: At the New York Jets. The Redskins first chance to see the quarterback they wanted in last year’s draft — Mark Sanchez. This is the third preseason game, which means the starters typically play more. So this is a solid test for them; not sure what it will be for the Jets. This also will be their first game in the Jets and Giants new stadium.

Week 4: at Arizona. Excluding the 2002 trip to Osaka, Japan, this is the farthest they’ll have traveled since a 1992 trip to play the Los Angeles Raiders. They have not traveled west of St. Louis since then.
