While trade rumors about center Dwight Howard dominate the news surrounding the Orlando Magic, the team has some bigger issues that need to be addressed immediately. The Magic’s offense has disappeared. It all started with an 87-56 loss to the Celtics on Jan. 23. Orlando scored just 20 points in the entire second half and set franchise lows for points and field goals (16).
In a rematch with Boston just three days later, the Magic scored eight fourth-quarter points and squandered a 27-point lead in a 91-83 loss.
The following night, the Magic were held to just 67 points in a 26-point loss to a Hornets team that entered the night on a nine-game losing streak.
And on Monday night, it was a nine-point third quarter that led to a 74-69 defeat to the 76ers, the fourth loss in a row for the Magic.
On Wednesday night, Orlando will try to get out of its offensive funk against the Wizards, who have allowed 98.2 points a game this season.
