This time of the Women’s Pro Soccer variety.
The Washington Freedom have rebuilt with — count ’em — six more members of their W-League team last season, along with one other former team member. And, oh, they picked up a goalkeeper you might know…
Here’s the rundown:
Round 1, Allie Long (7th pick overall) — North Carolina/Penn State, u-20 and u-21 U.S. WNT
Round 2, Alex Singer* (8th)
Round 4, Jill Gilbeau* (22nd)
Round 4, Parrissa Eyorokon (23rd) — Purdue
Note: also picked up Joanna Lohman* (Penn State, a handful of U.S. caps, played for Freedom a couple years back, too) from St. Louis in exchange for their 3rd round pick
Round 5, Briana Scurry (35th)
Round 6, Rebecca Moros* (36th)
Round 7, Sarah Senty* (49th)
Round 8, Kati Jo Spisak* (50th)
Round 9, Claire Zimmeck (63rd) — William & Mary/W.T. Woodson High. How’s that one? Woodson represents at two drafts in two days. First, Michael Lahoud, now Zimmeck.
Round 10, Christen Karniski* (64th)
*Member of last year’s W-League team. That makes 10 from that team — 11 if you include Lohman — if you include Becky Sauerbrunn, Sarah Huffman, Lori Lindsey, and Emily Janss, who’ve already been drafted.
