Halftime: Falcons 24, Redskins 3
1st Qtr | 2nd Qtr | 3rd Qtr | 4th Qtr
» Mike Sellers had a nice catch and run, when Jason Campbell finally had time to throw. Nice soft pass. One of the few times Campbell has looked comfortable in the pocket. I’ll give the line credit, too, for handling a stunt on both sides.
» But, cripes Sellers, make a block on the corner blitz. Maybe he was going to release on the play, but he never moved his feet and he barely tried to nudge the defender. Yet another inexcusable play.
» Stephon Heyer shows once again that he, too, can’t block on inside moves.
» Shaun Suisham is in an excellent groove this season. So the Redskins have that going for them. Only four more field goals and they’ll take the elad.
» The Redskins do a poor job tackling. This has been one of the worst games as far as tackling that I’ve seen from Carlos Rogers. Too many guys trying to hit with their heads down and without wrapping up. That’s too cocky for me; use some decent form for a change.
» It’s bad when one of the mainstays on the line has two holding penalties already in the first half. And it’s bad when that second holding penalty by Casey Rabach couldn’t even stop his man from getting the sack.
» And the bad tackling continues.
» On Michael Turner’s touchdown run, one major culprit was linebacker London Fletcher. He was completely fooled and ran to his left while the play went to his right. A linebacker has to scrape on that play and none was there; should have been Fletcher. But give the Falcons credit; they set that play up well with similar formations and motion earlier in the game with the play going the way Fletcher went. He guessed wrong, however. There were a host of other errors, including DeAngelo Hall going wide and LaRon Landry taking yet another bad angle. Hard to believe, I know.
» Really, this is now unreal how poorly disciplined the Redskins are playing. They’ve lost their cool. It’s disgusting.
» The Redskins blitzed once, with Reed Doughty and Justin Tryon coming off the edges and recorded a sack. But they’ve done OK with a four-man rush. Getting to the quarterback has not been the issue. They’ve actually applied a lot of pressure this quarter, especially Orakpo.
» Um, it’s probably safe to go outside and do something else.
