Whatta man-date
Those of you who remember the 1980s and 1990s R&B group Salt-n-Pepa probably recall its hit “Whatta Man.”
Now, the duo has a reality show on VH1 that documents its efforts to reunite. In last week’s episode, the two (Cheryl Wray and Sandra Denton) went over the lyrics to “Whatta Man” and tried to bring them more up to speed.
Quoting the song, Denton said they had to change the line, “A body like Arnold with a Denzel face.” The song was written in 1993.
“Not Arnold,” Denton said to Wray. “I mean, he’s the governor now.”
“Who right now are you feeling?” Wray asked. “Who’s cute or handsome?”
They ended up agreeing on a new lyric: “A body like Obama. …”
