Odds that John McCain will drop Sarah Palin as his VP choice are still dropping. After opening at 16-1 at Paddy Power, Ireland’s largest bookmaking site, odds fell as low as 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon, prior to her speech.
But it’s the other bets that Paddy Power is taking around Palin that sparked our interest. The site is taking wagers on what surprise the governor will reveal next. A driving violation comes in atop the list at 5-4, followed by cheating in school at 7-4, an arrest for flashing at 10-1, a membership in the Church of Scientology at 25-1, an addiction to moose burgers at 33-1, a donation to the Obama campaign at 40-1, wearing Bill Clinton-themed pajamas to bed at 50-1 and being abducted by aliens at 500-1.
Ken Robertson, political betting analyst for Paddy Power, said, “We’ve had numerous requests from punters across the globe looking for odds on different stories to emerge regarding the Sarah Palin. Breaking and entering an igloo at 250-1 is my personal favourite but I would consider it extremely unlikely!
